History of the centre

Introducing the SingStimmZentrum

In the joint practice for otorhinolaryngology in Schlieren (Dr. med. Salome Zwicky, FMH ORL and phoniatrics), patients with problems of the speaking voice but also the singing voice have been examined and treated for many years.

The SingStimmZentrum Zürich was founded in 2013 by phoniatrist Dr Salome Zwicky and by vocal coach and concert singer Barbara Böhi to complement the joint practice. The basic idea of the centre is to combine the possibilities of medicine and singing pedagogy in analysing and remedying problems of the singing voice. In 2014, the SingStimmZentrumZürich was able to move into additional rooms in the same building. The centre has also become a platform for professional exchange; to this purpose, it organises courses and events for people interested in the voice and for professionals. The following disciplines are represented in the SSZZ:

  • ENT, phoniatrics
  • Speech therapy
  • Breathing, voice and speech education
  • Vocal pedagogy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Voice Massage
  • Psychology
  • Alexander Technique
  • Nutritional counselling

All team members are specialized in treating problems of the speaking and singing voice.
