ACOUSTICS AND RESONANCE – how does it apply to singing

We are delighted to invite you to a course by Chris Johnson on acoustic phenomena and their application to singing at the SSZZ.
In this course, Chris will guide us through the complex and sometimes sticky world of resonance, and how it applies to singing. The journey through acoustics will touch on the following areas:
– Fundamentals of acoustics that allow us to understand what we are hearing, and how to leverage acoustic effects in the voice
– Speech as a basis for resonance training, sensing resonances in the body, their exploration, location, placement and predictability
– The transfer of speech resonance principles and sensations into singing, including higher ranges and different styles
– The popular application – BELTING!
– Therapeutic application of resonance exercises and the mechanisms behind them
– Masterclass style session where we can apply these principles live, to help with a variety of vocal goals or problems
